The subjects of Helena Hladilová's works come from the bedtime stories the artist invents for her children. If on the one hand this subject reflects the child's imagination, on the other hand it reveals Hladilová's need to adapt to her dual role as mother and artist, the bridging of imaginary and real, domestic and social, family and work dimensions. The subjects of the bedtime stories were initially researched in 3D, composed in the form of vector files and sent as instructions to a marble-cutting machine, which carried out an initial rough-hewing of the contours. These semi-finished products, now having the right distance from the original intimate narrative, were subsequently finished by hand by Hladilová.
