At Narni, the Via Flaminia passed over the spectacular Roman bridge of Augustus which spanned the river Nera and is still majestic in its ruins today. The bridge is currently in a similar state to when it was photographed by Dora Bulwer at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries; it is the topographical surrounds of the bridge and the ancient Via Flaminia that have changed considerably.
