From Falerii Novi, Ashby walked south along the Via Amerina. He passed the ancient rock tombs lining this well-preserved section of the road before stopping at the Roman bridge at Tre Ponti (pictured). Sections of the road and bridge are still accessible today, allowing modern travellers to follow in the footsteps of Ashby and his companions along the Via Amerina.
